The book takes place in a Japanese POW camp during WW2, where Australian doctor Dorrigo Evans helps his mates to survive in the camp in horrible conditions.

Summary
In the despair of a Japanese POW camp on the Death Railway, surgeon Dorrigo Evans is haunted by his love affair with his uncle’s young wife two years earlier. Struggling to save the men under his command from starvation, from cholera, from beatings, he receives a letter that will change his life forever.

Review
In general I really enjoyed reading this book. The emotional part of the book is really touching and it really drags you along the story. But this book has some downsides to me, sometimes, I really had no idea where, who or what I was in the story, the chapters change pretty often and so does the person whose life you're following. That way it is sometimes confusing for the reader to know what is happening to who. But after a while you start knowing the characters and you know who is talking.
I did like reading this book a lot and I recommend it to everyone.
